Scholarship Benefits
The NZAID Scholarship provides comprehensive financial support, including:

Eligibility Criteria
- Age Requirements:
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old when the scholarship begins.
- Applicants aged 17 at the time of application must turn 18 before their course starts.
- Exception: Samoan applicants can be 17 years old at the start of their scholarship.
- No upper age limit, but preference is given to candidates under 40.
- Academic Requirements:
- Applicants must meet the minimum academic requirements for their chosen course at a New Zealand institution.
- PhD applicants must contact potential supervisors early and provide proof of ongoing discussions during the interview stage.
- English Language Requirements:
- General requirements include:
- IELTS: Overall 6.5 (no band below 6.0)
- TOEFL (IBT): Score of 90, with 21 in writing
- PTE Academic: Overall 58, no score below 50
- Cambridge Advanced (CAE): Overall 176, no band below 169

- General requirements include:
- Contribution to Home Country Development:
- Scholars must commit to contributing to their home country’s social or economic development for at least two years after completing their studies.
- Residency Requirements:
- Applicants must have lived in their home country for at least two years before applying.
- Exemption: Diplomats and their dependents on official assignments abroad.
- Work Experience Requirements:
- Postgraduate and mature undergraduate applicants must have relevant work experience:
- 1 year of full-time work (30+ hours/week) OR
- 2 years of part-time work (up to 29 hours/week).
- Preference is given to candidates whose field of study aligns with their work experience and future career plans.
